Kei Nishikori was crowned Barcelona Open champion for the second consecutive year after a hard fight over Spain's Pablo Andujar 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the Barcelona Open on Sunday.
The world No.5 needed one hour and 34 minutes to put away Andujar on the red clay in Barcelona.
It was the ninth career title for the top-seeded Japanese, who again showed his improved endurance as he battled to come out on top against the world No.66.
"I didn't look to defend my title, just to play my best", Nishikori said. "I knew that this was a tough tournament with all the Spanish players. I just tried to play my best and now I am really happy".
