A Kenyan double victory in a major marathon is hardly unusual, but there was a majestic quality about the kind of victory for both runners Eliud Kipchoge (30) and Gladys Cherono (32) on the 42,195 km course thru Germany’s capital city in the 42nd edition of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Eliud Kipchoge defied footwear problems to run a 02:04:00 personal best time by five seconds in fantastic weather conditions. Gladys Cherono smashed the barrier of 02:20 in only her second marathon, joining now the exclusive club of 18 women who have worldwide achieved this privilege. The Kenyan ran the fastest woman’s time of the year with 02:19:25.

The Swiss luxury-watch brand as the official partner and official timekeeper of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON awarded the winners of the four marathon categories – runners, handbikers, wheelchair users and inline skaters – with TAG Heuer watches. The male winners received a cool and sporty chronograph from the Aquaracer series and the female winners received a beautiful and trendy chic watch also from the series Aquaracer. Besides this commitment TAG Heuer presented the new partnership with the German top runners and twins Anna and Lisa Hahner. With the Olympic qualification set as her personal objective TAG Heuer partner Anna Hahner (25), was in perfectly good spirits at the beginning of the marathon. However, things did not entirely turn out as she had planned and true to the TAG Heuer motto #DontCrackUnderPressure she had to struggle hard through the end of the race. So for once, her emotions changed from tears to smiles and back. Anna Hahner finished as the best German female runner with 02:30:19.
